The Supreme Court of Georgia Passes Final Judgment

	The Supreme Court of Georgia passed final judgment on case of Iuri Gornev charged with killing of his wife’s lover and remained in force Tbilisi Appellate Court judgment of 4th October 2006. The Appellate Court obliged the Ministry of Finance to pay 7 000 GEL for moral damage in favor of Iuri Gornev. Iuri Gornev’s lawyer, Lasha Chincharauli from Article 42 of the Constitution claimed increase of the sum for moral damage and reimbursement of material costs before the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Supreme Court by its judgment of 12th January 2006, after 2 years and 3 months of illegal imprisonment, released Iuri Gornev from the court’s room considered that there was no corpus delicti in his conduct. In 2003 Isani-Samgori regional Court sentenced Iuri Gornev to 3 years imprisonment. And, the Appellate Court aggravated the sentence and put him into a jail for 5 years.
