Support to the Procuracy Reform

6 lawyers from Article 42 of the Constitution together with American and British trainer-prosecutors provided trainings to prosecutors concerning the new Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia. Trainings were held in Tbilisi and Batumi from February till April 2007. All prosecutors throughout Georgia were engaged in the training sessions.
Trainings were implemented in the scopes of the project "Strengthening the Support of the Reform of the Procuracy in Georgia, Phase II". The project was exercised by the British Council in cooperation with "Altair Asesores" (Spain) and by the financial support of the European Union.
The training covered 4 main subjects of the new Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia: Discretionary prosecution/charging standards; Witness handling and preparation of witnesses and victims for trial; Evidence; Discovery.
Lawyers from Article 42 of the Constitution were assisting the foreign trainer-prosecutors to hold the training sessions and facilitating the working groups of the participant prosecutors.
