On 25-26 September in Kobuleti organization “Article 42 of the Constitution” organized a training for lawyers practicing in various regions of Georgia. The main topic of the training was: “Constitutional Court of Georgia – role, operation, results”. Manana Kobakhidze, Executive Director of the organization “Article 42 of the Constitution” opened the training. Together with the lawyers of the “Article 42” practicing lawyers from Kakheti, Imereti and Adjara regions took part in the training. Experts of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and organization “Article 42 of the Constitution” were invited as experts. Together with experts the lawyers discussed the following issues: role of the Constitutional Court and results of its operation, application of international acts by the Constitutional Court, suspension of the impugned provision during the proceedings before the Constitutional Court, consideration of admissibility of the constitutional complaints and case-law of the Constitutional Court concerning the social rights. Participants of the training got familiar with the practice of organization “Article 42 of the Constitution” with regard to constitutional litigation, discussed cases, participated in moot court. The event was held in the framework of the project “Building public demand for better legislation” which is implemented by the organization “Article 42 of the Constitution” with assistance of the American organization “National Endowment for Democracy” (NED). The objective of the project is to strengthen constitutional litigation in Georgia and improve legislation.
