A meeting of a network of practicing lawyers was held in Rustavi, on 20 March, 2009. Practicing lawyers discussed the problems related to the application procedures to the ECHR and litigation of the cases. The meeting was organized for lawyers with practical experience. Issues, such as article 39 and 5 of ECHR and execution of ECtHR decisions were discussed together with the experts of “Article 42 of the Constitution”. A network of lawyers who are involved in litigation of the cases in the ECHR was established in the framework of the project «Strategic litigation in the Caucasus». International partners of the project are: «Netherlands Helsinki Committee» and «Interights» (UK); regional partners are - «Armenian Institute for Development» (Armenia) and «Legal Education Society» (Azerbaijan). The project is financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GOF RE found of the British Embassy. More than fifty lawyers from all over Georgia are the members of the network. The goal of the network is to enhance professional capacities of the lawyers and to promote justice and rule of law through implementation of the standards and case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Georgia.
