Organization “Article 42 of the Constitution” implements the project “Strategic litigation in Caucasus” since 2006. International partners of the project are “Netherlands Helsinki Committee”, “Interights” and “European Human Rights Advocacy Center” (EHRAC). The project is financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GOF RE fund of the British Embassy. Various activities are carried out within the framework of the project, including funding of the strategic cases. From 2006 up to now 11 cases concerning violation of the rights guaranteed under various articles of the European Convention, were selected through a competition and funded. Five out of these cases were funded in 2009. On the selected cases, lawyer receive not only financial support foreseen by the project, but also the opportunity to address international organizations and “Article 42 of the Constitution” for the legal counseling. In 9 cases financed by the project international organization “Interights” is involved as a consultant. As for the remaining two cases which relate to the events that took place in Georgia in August 2008, “European Human Rights Advocacy Center” (EHRAC) provides the counseling to the lawyers.
